Doris Lowe, 91, a long time resident of Grayling passed away on Monday February 2, 2009. Doris was born on July 12, 1917 in Oscoda County, Michigan, the daughter of the late David and Mattie (Mansfield) Lowe. Following her fathers work with the railroad, the family moved often. At one time they lived in DeWard, Michigan, a ghost town in Crawford County. Doris graduated from Grayling High School and remained in Grayling where she worked for over 60 years for Emil Kraus and family. She worked first in the little red dime store that later became know as Ben Franklin. Doris enjoyed bowling,but sharing time with family and friends was most important in her life. Survived by Brother: Richard (Shirley) Lowe of Mt. Morris Sister-in-law: Donna Lowe of Bay City Many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents David and Mattie Lowe, brothers Leon, George, and William. Sister and brother-in-law: Arbutus and John Schofield and Sister-in-law Cloya (Rood) Lowe.
