Donald Albert Stokes, 81, of Grayling, MI and formerly of Lapeer, MI passed away unexpectedly at home on November 30, 2024.
Don was born to Manford and Alice (Shook) Stokes in Lapeer, MI on October 1, 1943. He married the love of his life, Linda Loomis, in June, 1964. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Stokes; children, Ann Libby, Lisa (John) Baker, and Dennis (Donita) Stokes; and granddaughter, Amanda Libby. Donald is preceded in death by his parents Manford and Alice Stokes, sister Elizabeth Avery, and brother Jim Stokes.
Don was an avid outdoors man who had an extreme love for fishing. He hunted deer in his younger years as well but overall loved the outdoor game hunting of every species. It was said by his pastor that there was no better place to worship the Lord when he was out on the lake if he was missing Sunday service. Don loved his family very much and was very proud of all of their achievements. He enjoyed all the time spent with his family. He looked forward to his retirement and lived his last days to their fullest. He enjoyed country music and when the season was right, loved listening to Christmas music. His presence will be missed by all who were a part of his life.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, 10:30 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lewiston, MI with Pastor Don officiating.
