Donald Edward Smock, 98, of Grayling, passed away on July 6, 2016. Donald was born in Grayling on June 11, 1918, son of the late Jessie (Reynolds) and Liland Smock. He graduated from Grayling High School, Class of 1936. He served in the U.S. Army in WW II. Donald married the former Bernetta Chappel at St. Mary's Rectory on August 17, 1940. Donald retired from the DNR in 1981 and then owned and operated Milltown Fence Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and attending sports events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion. Survived by his wife Bernetta of almost 76 years. Children: Linda (Charles) Mires of Roscommon; Cheryl Sullivan of Roscommon; Michael (Cheryl) Smock of Hope; and John Smock of Grayling. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild. Brother: Gerald Smock, of Grayling. Preceded in death by brothers Bob and Howard; sister, Wanda; and granddaughter, Kim. Graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 14, 2016.
