Donald Francis McClelland, 78 of Fremont, OH and formerly of Frederic, MI, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at Elmwood at the Springs in Green Springs, OH. He was born November 24, 1934 in Novi, MI to Francis and Erna (Horton) McClelland. Donald served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955 where he was awarded the United Nation Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Donald was a part of the ground breaking design of the computer chip and then later went into the carpentry field. He was a Life Member of the Fremont VFW and a member of the Fremont American Legion and Eagles. Donald was once a member of the Frederic Volunteer Fire Department. One of his greatest joys was taking his son out fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed watching or listening to his son play sports. Donald is survived by his son, Drake (Deb) McClelland, Tioga, ND; daughter, Kris (Graham) Williamson, Vermilion, OH; grandchildren, Denyse McClelland, Trevor and Kelly Williamson; step grandchildren, Emmy and Eden LeRohl and companion, Donna Young. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters. Memorials can be made to the Warrior Foundation ~ Freedom Station, 1223 1/2 28th St., San Diego, CA 92102.
