Donald M. Burkett

Donald M. Burkett, 84, of Grayling passed away on Wednesday, February 14th, 2007. He was born in McBain, Michigan on August 23, 1922, the son of the late Ralph Merle and Rena (Heitenburg) Burkett. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945. Donald married Grace Marion Essex on November 1, 1947 in Cadillac, Michigan Donald was employed for more than 30 years at Department of Social Services. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, softball, and traveling to his cabin in the upper peninsula. Survived by Daughter: Sandra (Nick) Jorae of Grayling, Michigan. Son: Bruce (Marcella) Burkett of Grayling, MI. Grandchildren: Levi Burkett, Arica (Art) Zelenak, Carmen (Dean) Miller. Great granddaughter: Logan Grace Miller Sister : Marguerite Dugan. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Grace of 47 years. Visitation will be held on Saturday February 17, 2007 between 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home with funeral service at 6:00 p.m.. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
