Dolores "Dodie" Burns, 82, of Grayling passed away on Saturday July 24, 2010. Dolores was born in Lansing, Michigan on January 30, 1928, the daughter of the late Harris Edward and Hildegard (Petsch) Farrington. She married Gerald Burns on June 17,1950 in Lansing, MI at Christ Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed spending time in her gardens growing herbs, flowers, and vegetables. Dolores also enjoyed watching birds, antiques and an 'occasional trip to the casino'. Dolores worked many years as a Registered Nurse in doctor offices, OB, ER and chemical dependency units. She volunteered for a number of different causes and organizations over the years. Dolores was an active member of Mt. Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church of Grayling. Survived by her husband Gerald of 60 years. Daughters: Dr. Nancy Burns (Rodney Wilkins of Prescott, AZ. Sandra (Arvo) Lakanen of Traverse City. Susan (Robert) Miller of Ashland, WI. 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren Sisters, Elsbeth Baskette of TX., Jeanette Henig of Grayling., Jackie Wickemeyer of IA. and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents and brother Bertram Farrington Memorial Service will be held at Mt. Hope Evangelical Lutheran in Grayling, MI, on Tuesday, July 27th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Todd Brunworth officiating.
