Dee Alan "PETE" Mead, 88, of Grayling, passed away on April 24, 2018. He was born in Ferndale, Michigan on January 15, 1930 to the late Harold and Anna (Wright) Mead. Pete was raised in Merritt, Michigan and graduated from Merritt High School in 1948. He was a basketball star in high school that married a cheerleader, Dolores Campbell, on October 29, 1949. Pete worked in Grand Rapids at Fisher Body and then moved to Grayling, to sell beer for Krumrei Beverage for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing Euchre and Cribbage. His favorite place in the world was the family cabin at St. Martin's Point. Survived by his wife Dolores of 68 years. Children: Natalie (Barry) Van Guilder; Robert (Patricia) Mead; Debra (Leonard) Lobsinger; Dee (Dora) Mead; and Pamela (Robert) Terry, all of Grayling. Pete was also blessed with 21 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Sisters: Sara (Dave) Nettle of Merritt and Peggy Briggs of Minnesota. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harry, Gene, and Jack Mead; sister Thelma Demontiney; and his beloved dog Mollie. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home between 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Moddersville Cemetery in Merritt, Michigan.
