Darla Mae Moore

August 8, 1940 — November 19, 2015

Darla passed from this world on November 19th, 2015 to join her beloved son Jeffery in God's tender care, free from the many health problems that she battled in recent years. Darla was born on August 8th, 1940 in Grayling, Michigan, the youngest daughter of Roy and Gertrude Boger. She graduated from Grayling High School in 1959. She worked at Ben Franklin and at Dawson's, where she met the love of her life, Melvin Moore. They Married on August 29th, 1964. Darla was a devoted housewife and mother to her three sons, Todd, Jeffery and Timothy. Jeffery passed away from a genetic disorder called Batten disease in 1978. As Todd and Tim got older, Darla rejoined the workforce being employed by Northland Credit Union, and later as a secretary for the health department, where her friendly and joyful demeanor was enjoyed by clients until her retirement in 1996. Darla enjoyed spending time with her girlfriends from school, affectionately known as the south side gang. They were all special to her. Darla was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and enjoyed doing crafts, family activities, her grand children, sitting on the deck in the sun, dining out, and long rides with Mel. Preceding her in death, son Jeffery, parents Roy and Gertrude, Sisters Bonnie Kucharek, Betty Boger and brothers Jack, Burt and Glenn. Darla is survived by husband Mel, Sons Todd (Candy), Tim (Angel), grand children Brandon, Caitlin, Zachary, Zeke, Jadyn, Sebastian, great grand children Blaine and Harper, and best friend since kindergarten, Clara (Wolcott) Gibbs.
