Clara D. Varco (Hedger)

Clara D. Varco, 74, of Frederic, MI passed away on Monday May 7, 2012. Clara was born in Risco, MO on September 21, 1937, a daughter of the late Lydia Seely and James Hedger. She married Robert Varco in December 1963 in Owosso. They were married for 31 years before he preceded her in death in 1994. Over the years she has worked as cook and bartender at the Swamp and Frederic Inn. Clara was on the volunteer Frederic Fire Department for 14 years. She served as the secretary, treasurer, and lieutenant of the department. She enjoyed making blankets and quilts by hand, working on computer and visiting with her coffee groups. Survived by her children: Annette Lipe, of Grayling, MI; Robin(previously Cox) and Steve Cromwell of Frederic Robert Varco, of Frederic, MI. 14 Grandchildren, 6 Great grandchildren Sister: Coralee (Arthur) Smith of Owosso Preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, a sister, and a stillborn son Charles. Memorial Service will be held at Frederic Fire Department at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12th, 2012 . Graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Owosso on Sunday May 13, 2012 at 3 pm.
