Ceriel Morris VanDeCasteele, age 95, of Grayling, formerly of Wacousta, MI, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024 in St. Joseph, MI.
Ceriel was born on January 3, 1929 to George and Marie (Meganck) VanDeCasteele in Detroit, MI. He worked at Motor Wheel for many years until his retirement. He had a knack for cooking. He and his wife Emogene ran the concession wagons for the local auctions which later turned into a business of owning and operating Gene's Dinner Bell in Grayling for 12 years. Ceriel also raced stock cars in his younger years. He served during World War II in the Navy and had the opportunity to go on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
Ceriel is survived by children, Kim (Nate) Martin of St. Joseph, Scott (Nikki) VanDeCasteele of Grayling, and Rodney (Julie) VanDeCasteele of Grand Ledge; grandchildren; Casteele, Dustyn, Andrew, Mike, Travis, Kim, Tiffany, Amber, Travis, and Jesse; and great-grandchildren, Johnny, Jett, Elliot, Evan, McKenzie, and Amelia. He is preceded in death by his wife Emogene and his parents.
A memorial service will be scheduled and held at a later date.
