Beverly Kay Smock

Beverly Kay Smock, 63, of Grayling passed away at her home July 30, 2016. Born June 27, 1953, in Grayling, Beverly was the daughter of Robert Charles and Barbara Jean (Schmidt) Smock. She was a certified nurse's aide and worked at Grayling Mercy Hospital and Tendercare in Gaylord. She also was a cook at A&W in Grayling and became manager there. After that, she cooked at the Grayling Country Club for many years. Beverly went to Kirtland Community College for 2 years and earned an Associate degree in business. She enjoyed helping others and loved her cats. She also had many friends and loved playing her computer games. Surviving her is her mother, Barbara Smock of Grayling; two daughters, Heidi Jean of Grayling and Cynthia Kay of Alma; brothers, Robert Jr. (Mary) of Grayling, James of West Branch, Randy (Becky) of Grayling and Joseph (Karyn) of Grayling; sisters Jeanie (Kerry) Harwood of Frederic and Gail (John) Failing of Grayling; 6 grandchildren, Alexia, Connor, Greggory, Johnny, Maisie and Matthew; 14 nieces, 5 nephews and many extended family members. Beverly was preceded in death by her father and grandparents. A viewing will be held August 3, 2016 from 3-6 pm at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in September.
