Beverly Jean (Stephan) Lowrie-Halliday, 91 of Grayling, passed away on June 7, 2020. She was born on September 14, 1928 in Grayling, Michigan to the late Herbert E. and Beulah E. (Larson) Stephan.
Beverly married Edward Arthur Lowrie on August 3, 1947 in Grayling. He preceded her in death after 32 years of marriage in 1978. In 1992 she became the bride of William James Halliday of Grayling. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Beverly loved being a resident of the Grayling community and was very proud to be a descendent of one of the earliest families to have settlements on the AuSable River near Stephan Bridge. After marrying Edward Lowrie she worked alongside Ed and his family to build and develop the Skyline Ski Area, once located south of Grayling.
Beverly worked at Bear Archery until the company moved to Gainesville, Florida. She also worked for a few years at the Grayling State Bank and then as the Court Clerk at the Crawford County Courthouse from which she retired. She was an accomplished seamstress and over the years enjoyed sewing many special projects for her family. She was a knitter and spent many hours knitting gifts and also did knitting for the MMM Church in Grayling. She enjoyed traveling and exploring different areas of the country with her sister & brother-in-law, daughters and their families. She enjoyed downhill skiing, golfing and camping with family. She was a member of the Eastern Stars, Grayling area Red Hat group, and the Thursday Lunch Girls Group. Beverly was a lifetime member of MMM Church of Grayling.
Survived by two daughters: Karen Lynn (Frank) Cook of Lansing, Michigan, Geraldine Jessie (Gar) Martin of DeWitt, Michigan. Four Grandchildren: Edward Cook (Carrie Dershem) of Dimondale, Michigan; Amy (Dan) Proctor of Justin, Texas; Chelsea Martin (Chris Hopp) of Lansing, Michigan; Joelle Andrea (Tyler) Dodson of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Six Great Grandchildren: Cody Cook, Kyle Cook, Julia Cook, Trace Proctor, Lance Proctor, and Emmerson Hopp.
Beverly was also blessed with many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, as well as very special friend Arlene Czuba of Grayling, Michigan.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, sister Ernestine Palmer, and brother Peter Stephan.

Memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Grayling Country Club. This will be an outdoor service to accomodate social distancing.
