Betty Marie Thayer

Betty Marie Thayer, 76, of Grayling passed away on Thursday, July 5th, 2007. She was born in Lakefield, Michigan on November 29, 1930, the daughter of the late Franklin and Emma Isabelle (Coates) Bowler. Betty started cleaning cabins in her teens. She then moved to Croswell, Michigan where she worked in Stokley canning factory for a few years. She then moved to Wyandotte where she worked as a waitress for many years. She married Ivor Thayer, Sr. on September 26,1953 in Germfask, Michigan. Betty became a housewife and mother to one son and two daughters...that was the greatest joy of her life. She worked odd jobs at times till moving to Grayling where she retired from the Big Ben Franklin Store in 1997. Betty's greatest love and interest were her husband, three children, four grandchildren, her mother & father, sisters, & brothers. Her hobbies were sewing, knitting, crocheting, and painting. Survived by her husband Ivor Thayer, Sr of 53 years, Son(s): Ivor (Dawn) Thayer, Jr. of Massilion, Ohio. Daughter(s): Betty A Handrich of Grayling, MI. Linda LaTourneau of Gwinn, MI. Grandchildren: Deana (Les) Schrade, Jerimiah Thayer, Jesse LaTourneau, and Uriah (Sarah)Thayer . Six sisters and two brothers. Loving and caring friends Rick, Robyn, & Emma LaLond Preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Deloria. Visitation will be held on Saturday July 7, 2007 between 11-2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church . Funeral Service at will be held at Calvary Baptist Church , Grayling, Michigan on Saturday, July 7th, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Robert Barnett officiating. Interment will be held at West Lakefield Township Cemetery in McMillan, Michigan.
