Betty Jean Millikin

Betty Jean (Failing) Millikin of Grayling, MI passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024 at The Brook of Grayling. Betty was born on October 9, 1922 in Detroit, MI to Otto and Mona (St. John) Failing. She married her high school sweetheart Floyd G. Millikin on August 31, 1947 in Roscommon, MI.

She is survived by her children, John (Sylvia) Millikin of Grayling and Florida, Sandra Millikin of Grayling and Florida, and Beth (Jim Kassuba) Wakeley of Gaylord; her brother, James (Pat) Failing of Grayling; sister, Pat Scott of Gaylord; and sister-in-law Betty Failing of Grayling. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher (Jo) Millikin of Grayling, Paul Bailey of Grayling, Melissa (Tony) Wakeley-Sapienza of Clare, Cy Aaron (Teresa) Wakeley of Traverse City, Stephanie Wakeley of Gaylord, and Jessica Wakeley of Grayling; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd G. Millikin, sister Mary Ann Calkins, brother John Failing, granddaughter Jaymie Millikin Bailey and nephews, James O Failing, Allen Failing, Jeffrey Failing, and Jerry Feltman as well as all of her brother-in-laws and all but two of her sister-in-laws.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held December 27, 2024 at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home where family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 am. The service will be at 1:00 pm. Interment of Betty will be held in the spring at Elmwood Cemetery in Grayling, MI.
