Bessie May Feldhauser

Bessie passed away December 23, 2012 at Mercy Manor, Mercy Hospital, Grayling, Michigan at the age of 93. She was born to Edward and Delia Feldhauser May 15, 1919, in Maple Forest Township, Frederic, Michigan. Bess spent her life in Crawford County, always in the service to others. She graduated from Frederic High School as Valedictorian in 1935. She worked at many different jobs in her lifetime, helping on the farm, Ausable Woodworking, and Leng's Grocery Store of Frederic. Bess retired in 1982 from the A & P Store in Grayling after 35 years of service there as cashier and bookkeeper. After retirement she and her sister Dora stayed on the family farm and spent their summers gardening and entertaining family and friends. They traveled some and then spent winters in their home in Grayling. She is survived by two sisters, Dora of Grayling and Gloria Jean Reihl of Mt. Pleasant. She also has many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and now many great, great nieces and nephews, along with many, many friends. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jack of Grayling and Edward of Long Creek, Oregon, a sister Carrie Baynham of Maple Forest, two brothers in-law Ted Baynham and Edward Reihl. As to her wishes, she requested no funeral. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home in her honor in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family asked donations be made to the Crawford County Christian Help Center Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Grayling in spring of 2013.
