My dear Allen Musakka, born November, 10 of 1940, lost his battle with obesity and diabetes, giving way to heart disease (AHD) on January, 24 of 2014. He was married to Arlene Rioux (Babtiste) on January 12, 1974, who had 4 children; Cheryl Ann, Linda Marie, John and Louie Rioux. They were married until March 3, 1998. He then married Carolyn Musakka (Parmer) on May 25, 1998 who has 4 children; Suzanne Marie Parmer, Sherry Dawn, Brian Keith and Jeffery Allen Forkum. Al was very proud of his Finnish heritage and was raised in Wareham, Massachusetts. His parents were Sulo A. and Annie H. Musakka and a sister Shirley Fluerent (Musakka). Anyone who knew Al experienced his wonderful sense of humor, loyal friendship, always keeping in touch with his friends and schoolmates regularly and sharing jokes. When in high school, he began writing a weekly newsletter with funny stories. It became a big hit with the high school students, especially the guys in the locker room. In it, he would give a weather report like, "No weather today" or "Today from East Port to Block Island will be cold, hot, sunny, foggy, rainy, bright, take your pick." Al was a good historian and sports enthusiast and of course, his beloved Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics. Al was in the Air Force and spent time in Sonderstorm, Iceland for a short spell. He moved to Michigan more than 40 years ago. And one funny story I recall, was Al liked to send my sister funny letters. One time he sent her in an envelope, empty bubble gum wrappers, odds and ends of cut up old envelopes, and writing "My trash can is full, would you throw this away for me?" She has kept all the letters he has sent. I never lacked from humor/hilarity living with Al. You will be missed by many. I love you. By Carolyn Musakka
