Albert "Mike" Raymond Ingalls, 86, of Grayling, MI passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 2, 2023.
Mike was born to Clarence and Julia (Wright) Ingalls in Flint, Michigan on January 9, 1936. In Mike's younger years, he belonged to the Boy Scouts and was assistant explore leader to Vernon Kietzman. Mike was married to Joyce Kietzman on September 24, 1955 as soon as he was released from basic training at Fort Hood, TX in the United States Army. He then went to Frankfurt, Germany to serve a tour of duty.
Mike was an amateur radio operator holding an extra class license. He was a 49 year member of the American Legion Post 106, a lifetime member of the VFW and also belonged to the DAV. Mike participated in the Ausable River Canoe Marathon for 20 years and also served as the Grayling Twp constable. He belonged to the Frederic CERT (Community Emergency Response Team).
Mike served as a local conservator and guardian for several clients which he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved to go camping and traveling. He and his wife Joyce traveled the United States for many years until 2004 when his health started to decline.
Mike had a large family that he loved so much. Survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce Kietzman of Grayling, MI; children, Marcia (Terry) St. Vincent of St. Peter, MN, Joy (Joe) Ely of Grayling, MI and Lisa Ingalls-Thackeray of Bluffton, SC; sister, Susan Ray of Gaylord, MI; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins, sister-in-law, Kathy Ingalls; special friend who was like a son, Donnie Wright; and special friends, Joe and Tossha and their family.
Mike is preceded in death by his son, Albert Raymond Ingalls, Jr.; sister, Rose Sherbinow; and brother Danny Ingalls.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023, 1-3 pm at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home. Military honors will follow visitation at 3:00 pm. Mike will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in the summer of 2023.
