Alan Richard "Pete" Peterson, passed away on May 4, 2021.
He was born on December 16 1942 on Ludington, Michigan, the only child of Richard and Helen Peterson. Shortly after Alan's birth, his father was deployed to Italy in the 2nd World War and his mother went to work for the war effort in a Muskegon factory. Alan stayed with his Grandma. He was an honor graduate of Ludington High and went on to Michigan Tech to major in Chemical Engineering. He played Little League and always loved the big lake and lighthouses.
In 1967 he married Ruby Petersen. They lived in Brighton where he worked as a Boy's Supervisor at Maxey Boy's Training School. When his first son was born, he wanted to move away from the city, so he transferred to Shawono Center where he finished out his 25 year career with the State of Michigan. He cleared a lot in Sherwood Forest and, with the help from his father and friends, finished the house in which the family still lives.
He was blessed with three children: Stephan Alan Peterson (Lisa), Hannah Marie Fraam (Joe), and Aaron Richard Peterson (deceased). He has 4 grandchildren: Emma Fraam, Ava Fraam, Isaac Fraam, and Brett Peterson.
Alan was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, serving as Sunday School teacher and treasurer. He coached Little League, was an active member of Right to Life, a big Red Wings fan and always had a dog. He was a member of the "Knights of the Round Table" at Goodale's Bakery after his retirement. When asked how he would like to be remembered, he simply said, "That I was a good man".
Before Alzheimer's took his mind, he had a quick wit and humor. He was a capable leader and good at working with older kids. A family only graveside service will be held in Ludington. Memorial Contributions may be sent to Grayling Church of Christ or Michigan Right to Life.
